Värmlands Säby

This border originates from the Värmlands Säby manor in Visnum parish in Värmland and was erected in the late 19th century. The wide borders were a novelty in home furnishings at the turn of the century 1800-1900. Adding a wide border to a solid-coloured wall was common and considered tasteful. The original Värmlands Säby wallpaper border has a rare, skilfully drawn pattern and is a good example of a popular type of pattern with motifs from the plant world that was introduced at this time.
