Historiska Tapeter
The starting point for this collection has been to reconstruct wallpapers from fragments preserved from the 19th century. The original fragments all have their own history and originate from Gysinge Byggnadsvård’s restoration projects around Sweden. At Duro, we have - with some detective work - carefully drawn and recreated the patterns. What makes this collection unique is that we have also kept the charming flaws and blemishes, together with the wear and tear that has occurred over time. Using an intricate new technique, even the base colours have retained their characteristic uneven surface to give them their painted feel.
In creating the colours, our aim has been to reflect our history with authentic colourways that are suitable for both now and then. The two borders can be used with all the wallpapers in the collection. Prior to the 20th century, the border would sometimes match, and at other times contrast with, the wallpaper. Most base colours are also available as wallpaper for those who want a single-coloured room with a more vibrant feel. This makes the wallpapers easy to combine with a pattern or border. All based on your own taste. With the Historic Wallpaper collection, we want to provide a good starting point for those who want to create an older environment or want to give that personal touch to a modern home.
