1950s wallpaper was inspired by modern art and showed a break in trend of previous styles. They wanted something new and modern compared to the earlier more romantic patterns, which resulted in wallpapers with abstract geometric shapes. Hand-drawn lines with a vibrant feel were very popular. The master of the lines and the designer behind Linjelek 1952 was Viola Gråsten. She was responsible for many of Duro's new designs in the 1950s. Viola Gråsten was born in Finland in 1910 and emigrated to Sweden in 1944. She became one of the most appreciated designers of the time for her innovative patterns and colour combinations. Linjelek has featured in several of Duro's collections from the 1950s onwards.
